This film is"the Battle of China"produced as war.Time Propaganda in the United states in 1944 during WW II.
"The Battle of China"was directed by Frank Capra.The purpose of this film was to implant the strong Anti-Japan Feelings into American people.This film succeeded in stirring up strong hatred against Japan by showing a lot of astrocities.The strong hatred against Japan produced the atmosphere to approve of indiscriminate bombings aim at Japanese civilians by US Air force.
The number of Japanese civilian victims of US Air Force's indiscriminate bombings amounted to more than 800.000(including Hiroshima & Nagasaki)China Nationalist Party commanded by Chiang Kai-shek edited"The Battle of China"again and produced"Chinese roaring with anger"in 1945.Chinese Government insists on Nanking Massacre by showing atrocious scenes in this film as evidences.In late November 1937,Japanese troops were approaching the suberbs of Nanking,the then capital city of China.Nov,11,Chiang Kai-shek commanding Chinese Army(Kuomintang)determined to strive to defend Nanking.
Nov,22,John Rabe and 14 Westerners else staying in Nanking established."The international committee for Nanking Safety zone"The committee announced the neutral zone as refuge for Nanking civilians.
Dec.9,Japanese Army scattered surrender flyer to Chinese soldiers for humans reasons from the sky and them 1 day's grace.However,Chiang kai-shek ordered Chinese Army to strive to protect Nanking from Japanese Army,they did not reply to surrender flyer.And yet,Chiang Kai-shek left Chinese soldiers behind and secretly escaped from Nanking with staff officers by plane on Dec,7.
At 13:00 of Dec,10,Japanese Army started making an all-out assault on Chinese Army shut themselves up in the Nanking Castle.
Fierce battles raged for 3 days from Dec,10 to 12.The part"the battle of Nanking"consists of many shots that cannot be found at Japanese film libraries.most of scenes in Nanjing consists of other shots that has no relation to Nanjing at all or shots that are obvious stages by someone.Therefore,Paramount news"The fall of Nanking(79scc)played in US in Jan 1938 did not have these shots at all."Arthur Menken of Paramout News was embedded with Japanese troops in Nanking then.At 20:00 of Dec 12,Tang Shengzhi that was commander of Chinese Army escaped from Nanking.And yet,though Tang Shengzhi ordered Chinese soldiers to die honorable death,he left them behind.Dec,13,the fall of Nanking.Chinese Army did not express any their intentions to surrender to the end.When Japanese troops entered Nanking Castle,most of the city had already became burned fields except the safty zone.
Chinese Army conducted scorched earth policy,everytime they retreated,they burned down the whole buildings.Most of Chinese soldiers that were late escape threw away arms and did not surrender to Japanese Army,and changed into vivilian's clothes and ran into the safty zone........ |
